M NSPELL
APHRODITE'S
SHRINE
I am siezed by the
love-lightning
Of Aphrodite
She makes me convulse and thrash
Like the silver fish that grasps
At life,
Like the swiftly coiling serpent
Dancing Kundalini.
I gasp
And cry and weep and sing
"You are a wonder," says my lover.
We are pressed so
closely to each other
As to become one
Made of two bodies.
We merge in spasms of delight
Melt and sigh and sob and moan
Our hands finding each other's souls
Dancing on skin
On rounded places
And sweet hollows
That quiver at our touch
Tongues meeting and searching out
The poems only they can tell...
Lips lovingly pressed
To those secret places
That send new flashes
Of Her love-bolts
Sweeping through us
Like a great wind...
And it matters not
Whose hands touch whose breasts
Or whose lips give and whose receive
For the Goddess-flame has clasped
Us both
In Her embrace
And it is She-I-You-We
Who make
The love.
This is the throne of
creation
The Kore and Center
Whence all life springs
This is the first and the last
mystery
The impulse of desire.
O most holy
Sacred of all things sacred
Goddess
Lover
Crone
Maiden
Mother
I die and am reborn in thee
I see thee in the face of my lover
Feel thee in my lover's touch
Know thee in the beating of our hearts
Become thee in the majesty of our passions...
