TAROT READINGS

Shekhinah offers readings, using her own hand made Goddess tarot deck. There are several ways that you can partake: mini-readings at Gateways, our local bookstore, online chat readings, and telephone readings. Shekhinah is also available to bring readings to you or your event.

Consultation Fees: $50 - $100 per session for one-on-one...
one to three hours. For two: $30 - $75 each, per session.

SHEKHINAH'S MUSIC

"Music is the soul of my craft."

Shekhinah has been singing and playing the guitar since childhood. She began by learning folksongs from her mother, and later went on to compose her own songs. Shekhinah was a part of the folk music renaissance of the 50s and 60s, and sang and played among many of the artists who later became well known, such as Bob Dylan, Dave Van Ronk, Peter, Paul and Mary, Jerry Garcia, Joan Baez, and Janice Joplin. At age 16 she studied classical guitar for a short time, but was soon finding her own tunings and inventing her own sounds. Her spiritual initiations opened her music along with her soul, and she found herself in ecstatic trances while playing and singing. "Music became my prayer, my ritual, my truth, my path. It brought my children into creative expression with me, brought me to the Goddess and to women, and ultimately to a new revolutionary understanding.

"Singing and playing music for me is all about connection. So different from the distant stage, the glamorous packages of "performance" and "stardom" and "recording." Yet even in these venues that connecting magic happens sometimes... I want to be
in trance, becoming one with my listeners, soaring in sound and beauty, flying in the magic of poetry, harmony, sweet sensual rhythms... orchestral drones with deep resonant tones, topped by exquisite sailing highs... mythic and magical and passionate meanings touching ears, hearts, souls... bringing joy, touching sorrow for healing...making revolution... fulfilling my wildness, expanding me. I sometimes say 'my spirit is a song...' What
song? Oh so many, ... I wish I could have some here at Moonspell
for you to hear, and hopefully this will come together someday...
but even more I wish we could be in the same room, flying together in the Muse's enchantment. At any rate there are lyrics here to some... click on "Soulsongs" to find them...."

Few priestesses blend music and ritual the way Shekhinah does. Reviewer Chris Aaron dubbed her sound "gothic jazz" and called her "the Bob Dylan of the women's spirituality movement." Shekhinah is a true Bard in the original sense, combining passion, poetry, magic, ritual, politics, and teachings in her songs. You have probably never heard anything quite like this music. "Even the term 'gothic jazz' doesn't exactly describe my sounds. I still grope around looking for an appropriate description. Maybe it's just faery music."

Shekhinah has performed professionally and privately for many years, at festivals and fairs,, in theatres, gardens, parks, concert halls and living rooms, at schools, rallies, coffee houses, on radio and tv, and in countless ritual circles. Her musical style is modal, haunting, and lyrical; sometimes jazzy or humorous, generally informed by her Goddess spirituality and feminism.

MAGICAL CONCERTS: Shekhinah is available for concert appearances locally and around the world. These can be rituals or sit down performances, depending on the needs of your event. FAERY SINGING CIRCLES: This is a unique ritual concert form we discovered that combines performance with participation in circle format. Solos are segued into group singing into poetry into chanting into ritual into commentary and so on... weaving these combined energies into an ecstatic blend.

MUSICAL RITUALS: These are rituals that are carried by singing, chanting, guitar music and occasional drumming from beginning to end.

THE MOONSPELL TAPES AND CDs: Shekhinah has eight cassette recordings, four of which are now also on CDs. Our distributors have just shut down their operations, so we are currently looking for someone else to help us with this. We need sisters who are responsible, committed, dependable, self-directed, and with access to marketing skills and venues- to produce, advertise, and market the Moonspell recordings.
